Mohammad Hidayatullah Biography ?



Mohammad Hidayatullah was an Indian jurist, judge and politician who served as the 6th Vice President of India from 1979 to 1984 and as the Acting President of India twice in 1969 and 1977. He was a leader of the Indian National Congress and a key figure in the Indian independence movement before becoming Vice President.

Hidayatullah was a judge in the High Court of Bombay and later Chief Justice of the High Court of Bombay before becoming Vice President. He was also appointed as a judge in the Supreme Court of India. He was appointed as the Vice President of India in 1979 by the president Neelam Sanjiva Reddy.

Hidayatullah was known for his contributions to the field of law and his role in the Indian independence movement. He was also a prolific writer and his book "Indian Constitutional Law" is considered an important reference on the subject.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of law, Hidayatullah was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, in 1988. He died on December 18, 1992.
