H. D. Deve Gowda Biography ?

H. D. Deve Gowda is an Indian politician who served as the 11th Prime Minister of India from June 1996 to April 1997. He was a member of the Janata Dal party and was the first person from the state of KarnATAKA to hold the office of Prime Minister.

Deve Gowda was born in Haradanahalli, KarnATAKA, and began his political career as a member of the Congress party. He later joined the Janata Dal party and served as a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's parliament, from 1971 to 1996. He held various cabinet portfolios during his career, including Railways, and also served as the Chief Minister of KarnATAKA.

Deve Gowda was known for his simplicity and humbleness, despite being in high office. He came to power as a consensus candidate within the United Front government, a coalition of regional parties and left-wing groups, and his government faced challenges with its short term. He passed away on January 8th 2021
