P. V. Narasimha Rao was an Indian statesman and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996. He was a member of the Indian National Congress party and was the first person from the state of Telangana to hold the office of Prime Minister.

Narasimha Rao was born in Vangara, Telangana, and began his political career as a member of the Indian National Congress party. He served as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India's parliament, from 1962 to 1971, and as a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house, from 1971 to 1984. He held various cabinet portfolios during his career, including Defence, Home Affairs, and Foreign Affairs, before becoming Prime Minister.

Narasimha Rao is widely regarded as the architect of India's economic liberalization policies of the 1990s, which helped to open up the country's economy and spur economic growth. He also played a key role in India's foreign policy and was instrumental in the country's efforts to strengthen ties with other countries. He passed away on December 23, 2004.
