Rishi Sunak is a British politician who is currently serving as the Chancellor of the Exchequer in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Conservative Party and has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015. He was born on May 12, 1980, in Southampton, England. He completed his education at Winchester College, a prestigious independent school, and later earned a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford. He then went on to pursue his career in the field of finance, working for investment management firms such as Goldman Sachs and The Children's Investment Fund. In 2015, he was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Richmond (Yorks), and has held various positions in the Conservative Party, including as parliamentary private secretary to then Prime Minister Theresa May. In February 2020, he was appointed as the Chancellor of the Exchequer by the Prime Minister Boris Johnson, succeeding Sajid Javid. As Chancellor, he is responsible for the management of public finances, including the budget and taxes. He has been leading the economic response to the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, and has been praised for his efforts to support businesses and individuals during this difficult time.
