Chandra Shekhar Biography ?

Chandra Shekhar was an Indian politician who served as the Prime Minister of India from November 1990 to June 1991. He was the leader of the Samajwadi Janata Party, a regional party and was a Member of Parliament for Ballia, Uttar Pradesh.

Chandra Shekhar was born in Ibrahimpatti, Uttar Pradesh, and began his political career as a member of the socialist and anti-Congress party, the Praja Socialist Party (PSP). He later joined the Janata Party, which was formed as an alliance of socialist and anti-Congress parties. He served as a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of India's parliament, from 1962 to 1984, and as a member of the Lok Sabha, the lower house, from 1977 to 1990. He held various cabinet portfolios during his career, including Commerce and Industry, Agriculture, and was also President of Janata Party before becoming Prime Minister.

Chandra Shekhar was known for his strong principles and his commitment to the cause of social justice. He was a staunch critic of the Congress party and was a strong advocate for the rights of farmers and the rural poor. He passed away on July 8, 2007.
