Sehwag was born on October 20, 1978, in Najafgarh, Delhi, India. He began playing cricket at a young age, and was encouraged by his family to pursue the sport. He began playing cricket at the local cricket academy in his hometown and quickly progressed through the ranks.
In 1999, Sehwag made his international debut for India in an ODI match against Pakistan. He soon established himself as a regular member of the Indian team, known for his aggressive and unorthodox style of play. He scored his first test century in the same year against South Africa, where he became the youngest Indian to score a century on test debut.
In 2001, He became the first Indian to score a triple century in Test cricket, when he scored a historic 319 against South Africa. He is one of only two players to score two triple centuries in Test cricket and also one of the few to score two triple centuries in Test cricket.
Sehwag was known for his aggressive approach to opening the batting, and his ability to score quickly, he was an innovator with some of his shots, and that made him popular among the fans. He was also known for his excellent fielding skills.
In 2013, Sehwag announced his retirement from international cricket and in 2015 he retired from all forms of cricket. His career was full of records, accolades and awards. He was honored with several awards including Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World in 2008 and the Arjuna award in 2002. He also received the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award, in 2010.
Sehwag is considered as one of the best Indian openers of all-time and one of the most entertaining batsmen to have ever played the game, his aggressive style of play and ability to score quickly have made him a fan favorite and an inspiration for many young cricketers in India and around the world.
