Atal Bihari Vajpayee Biography ?

Atal Bihari Vajpayee was an Indian statesman and politician who served as the Prime Minister of India three times, first for a term of 13 days in 1996, then for a period of 13 months from 1998 to 1999, and finally, for a full term from 1999 to 2004. He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and was the first non-Congress Prime Minister to serve a full five-year term.

Vajpayee was born in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, and began his political career as a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), a Hindu nationalist organization. He later joined the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, the predecessor of the BJP, and served as its president from 1968 to 1972. He was a member of the Indian parliament for over four decades, representing the Lucknow constituency in the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India's parliament. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha, the upper house, from 1962 to 1984.

Vajpayee was known for his strong leadership, his statesmanship and his speeches, he was a poet too. He was widely respected for his dedication to public service and his efforts to strengthen India's ties with other countries. He was also awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honor, in 2015. He passed away on August 16, 2018.
