Narendra Modi is the current Prime Minister of India. He was born on September 17, 1950 in Vadnagar, India. Modi's father was a street merchant and Modi helped his father sell tea as a child. He completed his higher education in political science and later got involved in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) , a right wing Hindu nationalist organization and political party respectively, which he has been active in since.

Modi began his political career as a member of the RSS, and later became a full-time member of the BJP. He served in various capacities within the party and the government of the Indian state of Gujarat, eventually becoming the Chief Minister of Gujarat in 2001. He held this position for a total of 13 years, making him the longest-serving chief minister in Gujarat's history.

In 2014, Modi was elected as the Prime Minister of India, following the BJP's victory in the Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian parliament) elections. He was re-elected as the Prime minister in 2019.
