Her father, Prakash Padukone, is a former professional badminton player, and her mother, Ujjala Padukone, is a travel agent.

Padukone began her career in the entertainment industry as a model, and eventually transitioned into acting. She made her acting debut in 2006 with the Kannada film "Aishwarya," and later made her Bollywood debut in 2007 with the film "Om Shanti Om," opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
